A Day in the Life

A day in the life of Marshall Custom Woodworks:

Begin day at 6:00 AM.
Josh and Matt began cutting parts for a kitchen project.  This one is begin built from Rustic Alder and will have raised panel doors, drawer fronts, and exposed sides.
Tom and Kelly went to a client's home just west of LaPlata to put finishing touches on a previously installed project.
Tom and Kelly returned to shop and make some phone calls.
Went to lunch at Grandma's Home Cookin' in LaPlata, MO.
After lunch, Tom went to Cardwell Lumber at Novelty, MO, for a meeting with Leroy and Mark Cardwell.

Myth vs. Reality

Myth:
Custom cabinetry is more expensive than my budget can afford.

Truth:
In reality, custom cabinetry is, many times, LESS expensive than pre-made cabinetry (e.g. Medallion, Custom Wood Products, Kraftmade, Thomasville) with equal features/quality sold by big box stores/lumber yards.

Value Added:

Typically, a bid for custom cabinetry INCLUDES installation.  Installation is rarely included with purchases from big box stores/lumber yards.  They may offer installation, but it will be for an additional upcharge and you may or may not get to choose the installer.

Monday Monday

In our shop today, Tom finished up building a custom walnut mantel top for a bar, and it is now in the sanding, staining, and finishing process, to be ready for installation at the end of the week.  Josh and Matt worked hard at building custom closet components using European Beech.  I shot the final coat of high gloss lacquer on the walnut doors that go with the walnut bar, etc.  That project is almost complete!  Oh, and Angel, our shop guard dog (golden retriever), supervised all work for quality control!  (I caught her snoozing several times.  :-)
